Lyrics
Out on the road for forty days
Last night in Little Rock put me in a haze
Sweet, sweet Connie was doin' her act
She had the whole show and that's a natural fact
Up all night with Freddie King
I got to tell you, poker's his thing
Booze and ladies, keep me right
As long as we can make it to the show tonight
We're an American band
We're an American band
We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
We're an American band
Four young chiquitas in Omaha
Waitin' for the band to return from the show
A feelin' good, feelin' right and it's Saturday night
The hotel detective, he was outta sight
Now these fine ladies, they had a plan
They was out to meet the boys in the band
They said: "Come on dudes, let's get it on!"
And we proceeded to tear that hotel down
We're an American band
We're an American band
We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
We're an American band
We're an American band
We're an American band
We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
We're an American band
We're an American band (whooo)
We're an American band (whooo)
We're an American band (whooo)
Notes
This vid started because Facebook.
A friend was commenting on how awful Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Friend of friend said something snarky like "what you do expect from the dude who did Wanted?" Silly me, I had to (somewhat sarcastically) stick up for Wanted. I mean, what is there to actually hate about Wanted? That movie is just ridiculous amounts of eye candy, so who fucking cares how good it actually was?
Oh no. Friend of friend went on to insult my taste in movies, because heaven forbid I ever watch something just for the eye candy. Obviously only morons do that.
I usually don't take personal attacks on the internet personally; sadly those are a dime a dozen these days. But I so incensed by the snobbery of the whole stupid thing that I went and watched Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter simply so I could draw my own conclusions.
And guess what audience? I fell in love with the movie.
Is it cheesy? Oh god yes. It is terrible? Yeah, pretty much. Does it pay lip service to issues with race and racism and slavery? YEP YEP YEP.
But my president gets to kill the fuck out of evil vampires. If that doesn't stir my usually latent patriotic heartstrings a bit -- just a teenie tiny bit -- well.
Since then I have successfully gotten a least half a dozen reluctant viewers to watch the film. By the end they pretty much all wanted to hump Benjamin Walker just as much as I did.
In conclusion: fuck snobbery, enjoy the hell out of guitar riffs and flying axes and Benjamin Walker being a sexy-pants vampire slaying president.

My office-mate just finished his PhD on representations of US presidents; we watched this together in theatres. Fuck snobbery! He still hasn't watched FDR: American Badass yet, though, so I don't know if his research is truly complete.
(It's also fun that Lincoln pretty much works as a sequel to ALVH, because there's minimal timeline crossover.)

Thank you! :D Glad you enjoyed.
